You know, Baaken was actually my second choice. Looked like he could probably rate, based on that slowish half-mile fraction from his most recent race, and wow, he sure showed a huge late kick in that one (obviously those two factors are related, but still).
He's also coming into the race off a heads-up drill with Hamnet, who is 2-for-2 this year.

My biggest afterthought: After watching Five Palms run, Baffert was gonna win the Malibu no matter what, or he would have entered that one.
