Churchill - Race 7
#5 Splendid Song (8/1 ml)
Interesting first-time starter for Todd Pletcher. Her last 4 drills have all come heads-up in company, and seem to be pretty notable. The first came with Razmataz, the 2yo i gave out last week who missed by a length @ 9/2, in pretty fast time. The next work came with Collect The Fee, who didn't run too great when debuting at Keeneland, but did show some speed and was running second in the early going behind a runaway winner. The final two drills are more notable, the one two back coming with Happy Week, who came out of that drill to run a close third @ 10/1 in a Churchill alllowance on May 22, in fast time. Her final drill came with Floating Heart, an older stakes horse of some note for Pletcher, who ran third in a couple of graded stakes earlier this year (one of them behind Zenyatta). This filly also happens to be quite well-bred, being by Unbridled's Song out of Resplendency, who was a very nice stakes filly for Baffert some years back. Robbie Albarado gets the call here, and he's 1-for-7 with Pletcher, but the one winner was a longshot, much like this one. Think this filly could possibly be live here at a big price.
HRT record:
68 for 250 (27%)
$585.20 mutuels ($8.61 avg)
