this is how the carry over came about.,,, :cool2:

"Pick Six Carryover A Record $1,597,470

As a result of 31-1 longshot Haimish Hy's stunning upset in the featured $100,000 El Cajon Stakes Friday, there will be a Del Mar record carryover of $1,597,470 in the Pick Six Saturday at the seaside track.

Post time for the first of ten races Saturday will be 2 p.m., with the $2 Pick Six wager conducted on races five through ten. Approximate post time for the fifth race is 4:05 p.m.

The previous Del Mar mark for a Pick Six carryover was $1,561,987 Saturday, July 26, 2008. The all-time record for a Pick Six pool is $6,057,334 Wednesday, September 5, 2007, a standard that could be exceeded Saturday.

There was a two-day carryover of $488,667 into Friday's program and $1,997,314 in "new" money was wagered Friday for a total pool of $2,485,981 in the Pick Six. There were 89 tickets with five winners and each was worth $5,345.20.

Haimish Hy, sent postward as the most lightly-regarded entrant in a field of eight three-year-olds under Alonso Quinonez, trailed in the early stages of the El Cajon at one mile on the main track.

Steered to the far outside entering the stretch, Haimish Hy responded generously to edge out Lions Story by a neck in the final strides. Another neck away in third place was Distorted Economy. Previously unbeaten Goggles McCoy, the 3-2 favorite under jockey Russell Baze, set the pace until the stretch but faltered and wound up fourth.

Haimish Hy, owned by the partnership of Zvika Akin, Richard Franco, Sy Goldstein and trainer Art Sherman, stepped the distance in 1:36.55 and returned $64.20,

$21.80 and $7.80 after his fourth victory in eight starts. First money of $50,000 increased his earnings to $134,980. The colt is a son of Ecton Park.

Lions Story returned $5.80 and $4.20, while Distorted Economy paid $3.20 to show.

Rafael Bejarano booted in three winners to tie Joel Rosario, who had a single winner, atop the Del Mar jockey standings, at 47 victories with four days remaining of the 2010 summer racing season."
