Oak Tree @ Santa Anita - Thursday

Lots of plays today. More than half the card, in fact. Highly unusual...
Race 1
#7 Paris Design (20/1 ml)
Maiden blew the first turn at Fairplex and was non-competitive thereafter, but that's not unusual at that place. Came back with a sharp drill over the Santa Anita cushion while in blinkers, and adds blinkers for the race here. Should run well.
Race 3
#2 Sudoku Buddy (10/1 ml)
Gaines maiden has shown some talent in the mornings, and Talamo abandons the 5/2 ml favorite (Richer Gear) to ride him. Note that Gaines has struck with a whopping 41% when using Talamo, from 17 starters. Expecting a nice run.
Race 5
#13 A.P. Double Cat (10/1 ml)
Drysdale firster tries two turns here, but the master horseman is more than capable with that type. This one has been training well too, and starts for Irv and Margie Cohen, who have had some good ones with Drysdale in the past (most notably War Chant, i think). The outside post presents a problem, but that 10/1 ml looks pretty juicy. I'll take my chances.
Race 6
#8 Ask Sam (5/2 ml)
Huge debut run for this one while sprinting at Del Mar, then was thrown right into a two-turn stakes over a deep surface that definitely required some stamina. Very tough spot for her, and to make matters worse she ran off to a 10-length lead in the early going. The race was a complete throwout, though it very likely helped in her conditioning. She drops back to one-turn here, and note the switch back to MIchael Baze, who was aboard for her big debut win. Should run very well here.
Race 7
#4 Model (3/1 ml)
Another Drysdale turfer here. She comes in off a very sharp drill with a fine older horse, and has kept some solid company in her preliminary events. Looks good.
HRT record:
31 for 106 (29%)
$286.90 mutuels ($9.25 avg)
