And the two (at least....Baffert says he'll carry on with Jaycito) injury-caused defections from the Derby trail this past weekend continues to highlight that whatever breeders and trainers are doing in this era of far less racing at two, just ain't working.
The last I checked these horses were bred to run? Then why dont these trainers run them? They run and win a big race and then get months and months off. Back many years ago when you looked back at the Past performances of these horses heading to the derby most of them had a good foundation. 6+ races under them at least 2-3 as 2yos and another 2-3 as 3yo's. They would run in graded stakes races at a distance of ground. Not some track made mile allowance race. Look back at some of these derby horses this year I think there are several that didnt even run last year. They wont see my money.
