Race 3 Short Field
BIG PRICE?
Asking alot to send these 1 1/8 on the Kee poly. The early sct of #7 means that they will dwaddle out slow fractions and all have plenty left for the stretch drive.
#1 Al Muhtasib, 3-1, Darly/Shadwell homie ran for a $50k tag at Spa and got picked up by Scherrer. He is the lone speed but probably won't have to use alot today to get the lead, or sit right off behind #5 Plutionum, a 12-1 false speed type. Any pressure at all and he might pay for it late. There was a speed bias yesterday so you can expect the Kee crew to re-work the track to make it more favorable for closers today.
#2 MOBILIZER, 2-1, is the ml fav and the euro gets Gomez. Late speed figs makes this one dangerous.
#6 MOONPORT, 10-1
This is the one most likely to benefit from slow fractions. He is as good as the rest and offers value. Ian Wilkes sends Freddie back on and a well timed trip could spell winner at a big price.
Race 6 TCA G II f & m 3 & up 6 furlongs
If this race were being run at 1 1/16 I would be all over # 10, SWITCH, 9/5. West Coast connections of Saddler/Rosario. Big time horse has run 2nd to some good ones, Zenyatta, HDG, Blind Luck, Zazu. However, most of her better races were run over a route of ground, and 6 f does not seem to be in her best style.
#1 MUSICAL ROMANCE, 4-1
Florida moneymaker came north to PID to try synthetic and liked it. That was at 6 1/2 and today cuts back to 6 f, which may make a difference and allow for Shotgun Gulch to earn top honors.
#2 SHOTGUN GULCH, 5-1
Versatle type can lead or follow. Not disgraced by the likes of HDG and Blind Luck going long at Oaklawn Azeri Stakes in April. Followed that race up with a big win in Keeneland Madison G I on the poly. Top mid-west jock Luis Quinonez has been on this one, but he is replaced today by Gomez, and tricky OKIE owner/trainer C. R. Trout has this fillie ready to roll for the 6 f sprint. Loves the poly and will be a major player today.
