Gulfstream - Race 10

#6 Algorithms (5/2 ml)

Let's try and beat the Breeders Cup winner (and one of the current Derby favorites) Hansen in this race. Good spot to do so, i think, as this race comes at a one-turn mile, representing a turnback to a sprint-style race after Hansen has been running two-turns in his latest pair, and is simply prepping to go two-turns next time out as well. There's also no shortage of early speed to soften Hansen up here, while the razor-sharp Algorithms has excellent tactical speed and a cozy outside draw, which should enable him to lay in wait just off the fast early pace and then pounce on them turning for home. Looks like a serious threat to the favorite here, and Hansen should be a huge underlay based on his lofty reputation. Perfect spot for an upset.

HRT record:

84 for 316 (27%)

$697.40 mutuels ($8.30 avg)

If is comes up wet or sealed at Churhcill Downs, El Padrino looks like the real deal, very impressive down the lane.. 2-2 over wet tracks.

Impressively. Track condition should be taken in account, but he smashed.

Nice call, at least we know that TAP runners love the wet stuff.

Great call, DC. I thought Algorithims was ultra impressive in this race. He got a 105 Beyer. Look at the Breeding! Bernardini on top and Cryptoclearance underneath. He is bred to run all day.

Oh and I wonder why he was sold for only $170k as a yearling. Seems like a heck of a bargain for a son of Bernardini ($150k stud fee). Wonder if he has some infirmities.
