Race 5
#7 Devil's Afleet (5/1 ml)
First-time starter for Gallagher has been training sharply for his debut, most recently in company (from the gate) with Czechers, who won what i consider to be a key race over subsequent Barrett's Debutante winner P.S.U. Grad and the talented Stage Sensation. Gallagher struggles with first-time starters (big-time), but he's had some success with Talamo (who rides here), and i can't ignore that work with Czechers. He also drew well into the 7-hole. I'll take my chances with this one.
Race 7
#3 Buc the Spartan (3/1 ml)
This one makes his hillside debut while coming off a layoff, but he's recently turned in a couple of sparkling drills over the turf course. He also won his debut, which is the same as winning off a layoff (winning off works alone). He showed a lot of talent in running second to the stakes-caliber colt Augment back in May, and looks set to run a good one here.
HRT record:
37 for 128 (29%)
$324.70 mutuels ($8.78 avg)
