Meydan - Race 9 (Dubai World Cup)
#4 So You Think (5/1 ml)
Gave this horse out in the Breeders Cup Classic last fall, and i still like him here. Has been facing nothing but top-level competition ever since arriving in Europe, beating horses such as Workforce and the exceptional filly Snow Fairy (who came back to run third in the Arc, btw), then finished well for 4th in the Arc after encountering some early traffic issues. Beat Snow Fairy again coming out of that race, then came over for the BC Classic on just 3 weeks rest (and a cross-Atlantic flight in-between), and ran quite well once again, as he pretty much always does. May not have cared for the dirt a whole bunch, hard to say, but he gets synthetic today, which figures to be more to his liking considering his turf background. Also, he's been pointed for this race for months, unlike the BC Classic where he ran on short rest. Also note the presence of Aiden O'Brien's son Joseph in the irons here, as he was aboard St. Nicholas Abbey for that one's big win in the Breeders Cup Turf (and again today in the Sheema Classic, btw). Big, classy horse looks every bit like the one to beat here, and is somehow listed @ 5/1, probably because it's an American morning line and they're listing the Baffert trainee Game On Dude as the 3/1 favorite. Game on Dude did beat So You Think in the Breeders Cup, but So You Think looks poised to turn the tables while the shoe on the other foot, so to speak. Should be a square price with the money going into an American betting pool.
HRT record:
86 for 319 (27%)
$734.00 mutuels ($8.53 avg)
