Black Caviar, the monster Australian filly, is going right now.

She has $254,000 to win on her. The second choice $1,229.

She romped under a complete joke of a ride.

Ok. This is fucking crazy. Los Alamitos has a 2yo futurity race (race 9) with a pair of full siblings. So one horse was made in a test tube.

Since 1996, and the birth of the famous Dolly the sheep, Vets and other laboratories have been going into this area with break-neck speed. Texas A & M was one of the first and still continues today, to do major research .

However, cloning, per say, has been prohibited by most National Breed Associations, including Jockey Club, AQHA, and other show horse assoc.
The AQHA is based in Amarillo, Texas, and enjoys the benefit of Texas law which prohibits lawful intervention into the internal affairs of a voluntary association. Thus, the AQHA's refusal to recognize cloned horses is yet to be challenged in court, although several of these cloned Quarter horses have been developed. Time will tell?

What you have in the situation at Los Al is a case of a EMBRYO TRANSFER, where the fertilized egg(embryo) is removed from one mare and placed in the donor mare. The purpose and benefit of this procedure is to allow the mare to stay in training and continue to earn a payday , while at the same time producing progeny, and several other benefits including multiple progeny with different sires to rapidly look at genetic crosses, and increase sales from desirable bloodlines.

Under AQHA regulations, these embryo transfers are permitted, so long as all the notices have been given by the stallion owner by way of a breeding report, and get all the certifications required by AQHA.

Can you imagine the turmoil this would cause with the Kentucky breeders if one day Elliott Walden shows up with a Dr. Zorba hairdo and a lab coat, and proclaims, while holding on to a test tube, that he has the perfect cross between Distorted Humor and Tiznow!--And it's available for the mere price of ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

You know the Arabs would be first in line, followed by the Irish!
