Gave this guy out in his debut last month, and had been waiting anxiuosly for him to be entered back going long. Yesterday was the day, but the race got rained off the turf, and he scratched. Thought you guys might want to follow her along for next time (next week, perhaps?)
Saratoga - Race 2
#5 Draw Two (3/1 ml) **EDIT** Just saw this one is an early scratch; the race has been rained off the turf.
This 2yo Michelle Nihei colt actually worked heads-up with an older stakes horse (Regalo Mia) prior to his debut @ Belmont last month, and you may remember me mentioning at the time that i wasn't real thrilled with the fact that he has drawn the exteme outside post in that race (due mainly to the sharper turn on the turf course). That didn't help, but the bigger problem came when he came walking out of the gate to lose touch with the field early, racing dead-last (by double digits) and forfeiting any chance*of winning the race before they had even run a quarter-mile. That being said, he launched a nice rally entering the turn and came running on late while splitting horses to get third @ 15/1. Seemed obvious at the time that he would likely be tough stretching out, and here we are right on cue with a two-turn race for his second start. Won't be 15/1 this time, but should be quite playable thanks to the obscure connections, plus the smallish Beyer that it only third-best in this field. Good chance to make amends here at a square price.
