This has been talked about for years and they had been very straight forward, that this time would come and it now has as it will be developed....Sad for Sure!

Thanks king. This has been "known" by the employees for several months. Shirreffs took off, and John Sadler and Peter Miller are not far behind. They might leave a little bullshit here, but say goodbye to racing of ANY quality.

It really hurts the little guys, and the locals. The big outfits pack up with jet-setting owners and run to the slot money. When the casinos get sick of forking that dough over, it's all gone and we'll be stuck betting Australian racing. The only way to make it survive is for the state to realize the importance of racing to the (local and state-wide) economy and subsidize racing IMO, and that of many prominent "smaller" trainers. Once it's gone, it's gone.

I can't imagine a push for exchange wagering here anymore either.

Think of the investment that Betfair has forked over as this time.

They lobbied into the millions, and who knows what in bribes, and they couldn't get it done. Their network is a mess (the only "talent" IMO are Les Onaka and Caleb Keller, who I believe will be a very successful sports reporter), and "Betfair Hollywood Park" (BHP remember?) will be reduced to an OTB at best.

It's really a failure across the board as of now. At least they still send me checks, unlike the end of some poker sites (joking).

And what will happen of Hollywood Park Casino? I assume that's not going anywhere?

Just a shame, but i suppose it's been a while in coming. The main question is what happens to the race dates? Are they just going to r un year-round @ Santa Anita, except for the Del Mar and Fairplex dates?

The casino (and resulting OTB) will likely stay, and be integrated into the new development. Honestly, it's a huge piece of property in a (kinda) prime area. It's amazing it lasted this long.

Los Alamitos is trying to expand the track and get dates, while Santa Anita will take most of the extra racing. Del Mar will get an extra week I believe.

I just read it's gonna happen. Both CDI and Betfair are pushing for exchange wagering, and Los Alamitos horsemen have agreed to all the terms, once the state gets the changes they need in the original proposal.

As far as racing dates - I'm hearing 6 months of Santa Anita, with Oak Tree @ del mar. So essentially two Del Mar meets. Then Fairplex, and eventually Los Alamitos.

Needed changes to EX Wagering from recent CHRB minutes:

    May 15, 2013

8.Discussion and action by the Board regarding the proposed addition of the following
Exchange Wagering rules and the proposed revisions to these rules made in response
to the Office of Administrative Law’s (OAL) March 20, 2013 Decision of Disapproval
    of Regulatory action.
    Proposed CHRB Rules:
    2086.5 Definitions
2086.5 Application for License to Operate Exchange Wagering
    2086.6 Operating Plan Required
    2086.5 Exchange Wagering Data
2086.9 Financial and Security Integrity Audits Required
    2087.6 Cancellation of Matched Wagers
2089.5 Error in Payments of Exchange Wagers
2089.5 Requirements to Establishing Exchange Wagering Account

I don't know what it means, but they can fix it soon. Probably not by Del Mar.
