Gulfstream - Race 6
#4 Arch Avenger (5/1 ml)
Expensive yearling purchase for Pletcher worked heads-up twice in a row with barnmate All Tied Up, who has won 2 of his last 3 starts (including a two-turn optional-claiming race on yesterday's card). Also note that this is the longer half of an uncoupled entry, and today's rider Lezcano has an outstanding record for Pletcher, 2-for-4 at Gulfstream and boasting a 25% flat-bet profit overall since the beginning of last year (from 13 mounts). Also be aware, this colt more recently worked heads-up twice in a row with Anchor Down, who is entered in today's 3rd race. So if that one runs well, all the more reason to like this one.
HRT record:
94 for 346 (27%)
$807.30 mutuels ($8.59 avg)

He got bounced around pretty badly (from both sides) right after they left the gate; hard to say what (if any) effect that might've had in the outcome. In fact, one the horses involved in that bumping (#5 Big Guy Ian) went on to win the race.
Bad result for me, as i had a double-unit play on him. Couldn't resist at that price after the afore-mentioned Anchor Down had scored a nice win in Race 3.
Oh well, hopefully Cairo Prince will be a decent price coming up....
Ran second by a nose @ 4/1. Ouch.
