Hard to say. Obviously he wasn't as well-regarded earlier in his career than he came to be over the last several months, and of course he's a state-bred so I'm sure that Hollendorfer didn't mind taking advantage of those opportunities when they presented themselves. Plus, Hollendorfer has been training a very long time, and I'm sure he realized that the horse's legs weren't going to fall off if he raced him more than once every couple of months.
FWIW, his not-seen-too-often-these-days foundation was one of the reasons I liked him going into the Derby. It certainly didn't hurt him in that regard.
