Here's part of my new project: Making charts that are a little more focused and honest. They'll improve, eventually add notation of return winners, and other bias', but I'm thinking it could be a valuable tool:

Sample:

SO CAL DAILY REAL CHART 02.28.2015

RACE #1 3YO STRAIGHT MAIDEN 56K 9 FURLONGS

1 1 ML 3-1 9-2 Rockin Robin T. Baze 122 Lbs M. Glatt L
2 2 ML 30-1 74-1 Archie Bunker D. Van Dyke 122 Lbs P. Gallagher L
3 3 ML 5-2 4-5 Blue Law K. Desormeaux 122 Lbs R. Hess, Jr. L
4 4 ML 20-1 30-1 My Charlie Boy B. Blanc 122 Lbs P. Eurton L
6 5 ML 8-1 20-1 Commander King T. Pereira 122 Lbs J. Sadler L
7 6 ML 20-1 62-1 Southeast Asia F. Perez 122 Lbs B. Abrams L
8 7 ML 12-1 27-1 Miltee M. Gutierrez 122 Lbs S. Callaghan L
9 8 ML 10-1 12-1 Solomon Northup E. Trujillo 122 Lbs J. Herrick L
10 9 ML 9-2 7-2 Milton C. Nakatani 122 Lbs E. Harty L
11 10 ML 6-1 12-1 Nakamoto M. Pedroza 122 Lbs A. Kitchingman L

• 6 Commander King $43.20 $18.40 $10.00
•
• 9 Solomon* $11.60 $7.20
•
• 11 Nakamoto * * $7.80
• Times in 5ths: :224 * :463 * 1:113 * 1:371 * 1:493 * Times in 100ths: :22.83 * :46.68 * 1:11.76 * 1:37.28 * 1:49.63 *

HORSES EXPECTED TO PERFORM: BLUE LAW WAS WORKING EXTREMELY WELL, AND WAS 4/1. THE HARTY CHARGE MILTON HAS ALSO SHOWN PROMISE IN THE AM.

RACE REVIEW: THE FIELD BROKE WELL, WITH BLUE LAW AND MILTON SETTING THE PACE. THE FRACTIONS LIKELY TOO FAST FOR THE LEVEL. BOTH FADED CONSIDERABLY IN THE STRETCH. ALSO, NOT SURE BLUE LAW LOVED THE TURF. EVENTUAL WINNER COMMANDER KING SECURED A GREAT TRIP 5TH DOWN THE BACKSIDE, AND THAT PROVED TO BE KEY. SOLOMON NORTHUP MADE A HUGE MOVE 5 WIDE FROM LAST TO RUN SECOND.

HORSES TO WATCH: ROCKING ROBIN WAS BLOCKED BRIEFLY WHEN THE REAL RUNNING STARTED, AND LOST A FEW LENGTHS. NOTHING REALLY STANDS OUT AS A MAJOR PLAYBACK.

RACE 2 16KN3L 4YO UP 6 FURLONGS

1 1 ML 6-1 10-1 Hotaling Heart A. Quinonez 123 Lbs S. Williams $16,000 L
2 2 ML 4-1 7-2 Pay the Debt T. Baze 123 Lbs G. Sherlock $16,000 L

5 5 ML 20-1 49-1 Wildy Excessive I. Puglisi 123 Lbs B. Jackson $16,000 L
6 6 ML 9-5 4-1 Lust for Life M. Gutierrez 123 Lbs R. Baltas $16,000 L
7 7 ML 8-5 1-1 Patriotic Brother M. Pedroza 123 Lbs P. Biancone $16,000 L

• 7 Patriotic Brother $4.00 $2.80 $2.20
•
• 6 Lust for Life * $3.60 $2.40
•
• 3 Shy Rosa * * $3.20
• Times in 5ths: :221 * :454 * :573 * 1:102 * Times in 100ths: :22.26 * :45.80 * :57.77 * 1:10.43 *

HORSES EXPECTED TO PERFORM: PATRIOTIC BROTHER LAYED OVER THE FIELD ON NUMBERS, AND SHY ROSA HAS BEEN IMPROVING IN THE AM.

RACE REVIEW: WILDLY EXCESSIVE BROKE SLOW, BUT SHOWED NOTHING. HEAVY FAVORITE PATRIOTIC BROTHER QUICKLY MADE WIS WAY TO THE FRONT AND KEPT FINDING. SHY ROSA WAS HARD RIDDEN AT THE 3/8 AND SHOWED NOTHING.

HORSES TO WATCH: LUST FOR LIFE IS A POTENTIAL PLAYBACK FOR ME AT THE SAME LEVEL IF I CAN GET A JOCK CHANGE AWAY FROM MARIO GUTIERREZ. NOTHING ELSE STOOD OUT.

RACE 3 16KN3L 4YO UP 6 FURLONGS

1 1 ML 4-1 5-1 Sacred Ovation F. Prat 121 Lbs G. Papaprodromou $25,000 L

4 4 ML 8-5 8-5 Nextdoorneighbor V. Espinoza 119 Lbs P. Miller $22,500 L
5 5 ML 5-2 2-1 Oligarch F. Perez 121 Lbs S. Williams $25,000 L
6 6 ML 4-1 7-1 Endless Cruise J. Talamo 121 Lbs W. Spawr $25,000 L

• 5 Oligarch $6.40 $4.00 $2.60
•
• 1 Sacred Ovation* $6.00 $3.40
•
• 4 Nextdoorneighbor* * $2.40
• Times in 5ths: :22 * :45 * :563 * 1:09 * Times in 100ths: :22.14 * :45.05 * :56.76 * 1:09.10 *

HORSES EXPECTED TO PERFORM: OLIGARCH WAS TRAINING VERY WELL, AND LOOKED WELL ON TRACK. NEXTDOORNEIGHBOOR WAS COMING OFF TWO QUALITY WINS AND RETURNED IN 12 DAYS WITH A BUMP UP IN CLASS.

RACE REVIEW: A VERY UNEVENTFUL RACE. SACRED OVATION CAUGHT A FLYER AND RAN THROUGH MILD TO MODERATE FRACTIONS. OLIGARCH RACED UP CLOSE AND TAGGED SACRED OVATION AT THE WIRE. REALLY BAD BEAT FOR THE 1. NEXTDOORNEIGHBOOR HAD EVER SHOT, BUT RAN AN EVEN 3RD.

HORSES TO WATCH: NOTHING CATHES THE EYE.

RACE 4 OC40K NIX 6.5 TURF

1 1 ML 4-1 6-1 Brescat (CHI) G. Stevens 123 Lbs R. McAnally L

•
• 11 Anniversary Kitty * $3.20
• Times in 5ths: :22 * :443 * 1:074 * 1:14 * Times in 100ths: :22.14 * :44.73 * 1:07.96 * 1:14.06 *

HORSES EXPECTED TO PERFORM: A VERY BALANCED FIELD. ANNIVERSARY KITTY SHOWING A FEW NICE WORKS.

RACE REVIEW: THE RACE WAS RUN ALRIGHT, BUT THE HORSE GOT BOTTLED CROSSING THE DIRT. ANNIVERSARY KITTY WAS WIDEST OF ALL AND KEPT GRINDING. AMELIA THE NAVIGATOR MADE A HUGE RUN INTO A AVERAGE RUN PACE. THE WINNER WAS GREEN AND MUGGED THE 5 HORSE AT THE TOP OF THE STRETCH (PROBABLY DIDNT COST THAT ONE MUCH.

HORSES TO WATCH: AMELIA THE NAVIGATOR MIGHT WARRANT A OLAY, BUT I THINK HE PRICE WILL GO WAYYY DOWN. ANNIVERSARY KITTY, LOSING LESS GROUND WILL RUN A MUCH BETTER RACE.

RACE 5 OC62KN2X 4YO UP

• 1 1 ML 5-1 9-2 Airfoil J. Talamo 119 Lbs V. Cerin L
• 2 2 ML 12-1 22-1 Spud Spivens C. Nakatani 123 Lbs H. Moreno $62,500 L

HORSES EXPECTED TO PERFOM: BAFFERT'S THE MAN HAS BEEN DUSTING OFF BOTH OTHE BAFFERTS IN HERE. EXPECTED TO RUN A HUGE ONE. FORCE FOR CASSE AND HOLLENDORFER'S IDEAL ALSO CAUGHT THE EYE.

RACE REPORT: THE MAN SAT BEHIND IDEAL, WABEL, AND JUST KIDDING, BUT AFTER BRIEFLY LOOKING FOR ROOM, LOST ALL INTEREST AT THE TOP OF THE STRETCH. NOB HILL FLEW FOR THIRD.

PLAYBACKS: FORCE MIGHT BE A DECENT 2 TURN ANIMAL, AND JUST KIDDING RAN VERY WELL FOR PRESSING THE QUICK PACE, BUT SUSPECT THIS IN ONLY A DECENT GROUP.
