Sweet Marini dueled and tired in the Grade 2 Santa Maria when stretched back out Feb 14, but has Lone ‘F’ potential in this much softer spot. She’s a proven commodity in the Cal-bred Stakes ranks (a win and two 2nds in her last three tries with state-bred Stakes types) and may never look back. If she does look back, she may see Wild in the Saddle and Bejarano. That one stalked a modest pace when beating midlevel Allowance stock Feb 20. She’s the main danger to our HF 15. Grazenette is stretched out after running well in back-to-back turf sprints. She’s routed OK before and can do better than the paper race suggests. Anniversary Kitty is also stretched out following two good turf sprints. She’s making comeback start #2 and, though unproven dirt, does figure relatively close. She has exotics potential.

CLOSERS: Fastest in the stretch in recent races at or near this distance have been: Wild in the Saddle :25.6 – Anniversary Kitty :25.8
