Valid and Confrontation are the class of the race as judged by Column 4 (proven recent class). Valid has cashed a check in three Graded Stakes going a mile at the meeting. This 7F trip should not be an issue while Confrontation chased him home in 4th going a mile Feb 7 after beating him home Jan 10. His 7F try at Belmont puts him on top in the paper race and there is not much separating the two of them. Tarpy’s Goal is stepped way up in class after scoring back-to-back wins vs. $35,000 Starter foes. He may be this good, while Pants On Fire has been freshened 3-1/2 months. He was Graded Stakes placed in 2014 after winning two such events in 2013. His last win came at this trip Sept 20 and he would be no surprise.
