ANALYSIS: Jerry Hollendorfer gave Grade 1 winner Sams Sister a blow after she faltered vs. top sprinters at Keeneland April 4. Her recent works are very good and she won twice here during the winter. In fact, shes a perfect 3-for-3 sprinting at Santa Anita. Those wins came at 7F, but shes won at this shorter trip, too. Amaranth has been off since being eased behind Sister in the Grade 1 La Brea, but shes trained well for her return and is arguably the speed of the speed. Mechaya has been off for 18 months, but has trained well and her 2013 races suggest that shes the only horse that can run with Amaranth early. In the end, a pace duel may only help set the stage for Sister. However, Amaranth, who was beaten to the lead in the La Brea, may be able to clear early and could prove hard to down if she does shake free. Wasted at Midnight rarely runs a bad one, but she also wants to be close from the bell. She may have to settle behind the speed to make it work today. Shes won once that way. Winning Vision is 2-for-2 without recency, has trained well and may be able to sit just off the leaders. She can beat her odds, while Harlingtons Rose may make an impact while tagging some tiring speed. Tesalina is the x factor in her U.S. bow. She was a win-type vs. lesser in Chile and has trained well for first start in eight months. Watch the betting. CLOSERS: Fastest in the stretch in recent races at or near this distance have been: Living The Life :23.9 Harlingtons Rose and Ramonas Wildcat :24.3
