ANALYSIS: Forest Blue has never been worse than 2nd in four career starts, and that includes a Grade III dirt sprint May 10 and a near miss in the opening day Oceanside Stakes when switched to the grass for the first time. He beat a few of these in that last start and appears the one to catch and beat today. He’s our HF 15a. Seve’s Road finished a distant 2nd while well clear of the rest of the field when facing this kind in a race taken off the grass July 18. He was 3rd in a turf Stake to Soul Driver June 20, and that one won the Oceanside Stakes on opening day. Seve’s Road co-tops the charting and could rebound with the return to the turf. The Gomper finished 2nd with this kind when switched to turf June 6. He finished 3rd behind our top choice in a Grade III on dirt the race before, so he has the ability to be a big factor. Tried And True was 4th in the Oceanside July 16 and was 3rd with this kind on dirt June 28 and May 30. He could help spice up the exotics. Our HF 20 goes to Dallas Skyline. He ran well in a couple of turf Stakes in So Cal last year before running Ok in a couple of Allowance heats at Churchill. He might enjoy the return to a firmer turf course and might surprise in his first for Puype. CLOSERS: Fastest in the stretch in recent races at or near this distance have been: The Gomper :22.5 – Tried And True :22.8 – Forest Blue :23.0 – Seve’s Road :23.3

Two horses co-top the charting in near par time for the level: Forest Blue and Seve’s Road. They both plot 3.5 lengths ahead of the field and they could be “key” runners in your exotics wagers. If you bet horizontally, you might want to use both runners. If you bet vertically, key these two on top in the Exacta or in the top two of a Trifecta or Superfecta.
