ANALYSIS: One could argue that it pays to draw a line through races with five or few starters. They tend to lack a normal distribution of early speed and produce odd finishes (and numbers) as a result. We have three of the five runners back from a June 12 $50,000 turf route. Abets Abet caught stalker Sound City after Lookin for Money faded after dueling on the pace. The pace was slow and Abets Abet saw her numbers spike in that win. All three have returned to run once since then. Sound City and Lookin for Money returned for $40,000 July 29 and the latter found herself farther back and finished smartly to beat eight rivals, while ‘City was farther back, too, and could only make up on length on ‘Money down the stretch. ‘Abet stopped on a dime entering the far turn and was not abused late. Spawr, who claimed her for $25,000 March 28, keeps her well above her purchase price. She may bounce back, though the number that she earned June 12 stands out as 20 to 24 points higher than her usual mark. Belle Et Bete was the tepid favorite in the July 29 affair won by ‘Money, but lacked a rally while likely hurt by the slow pace. D’Amato claims her and he switches her to Bejarano. He’s one of the barn’s ‘money riders’ and it may signify positive intentions (or simply that he was available). Finally, the projected pace slow for the class, so the door is open for the likes of Filly On Fire to steal away on the front end. The Calbred ends up as the upset threat. CLOSERS: Fastest in the stretch in recent races at or near this distance have been: Revenue Virginia :28.7 – Lookn for Money :29.3 – Belle Et Bete :29.6

Lookin For Money plots as the one to catch as she is the fastest thru the first two fractions. It appears the field might “bunch up” entering the stretch as she is passed by three others at the third call of the charting, but then she pulls away in the stretch to win. She owns the second fastest last fraction and she appears to be a solid contender.
