ANALYSIS: Barnmates Stealth Drone and Hennythelovepenny were no factors in a bottom-level Allowance on a good track July 18. Both could wake up at this level. Stealth Drone beat $40,000 soph claimers three back, so she looks like the one to beat and will get the HF 15a. Henny hasnt been a factor in three starts this year, but could wake up in this spot. Wed give her a look at a price, so shes the HF 20. Desert Thief could be the main challenger. She ran poorly in a Cal-bred Allowance on turf July 19, but was competitive in three straight on dirt before that. She could rebound with the return to the main track and with the drop to this level. Finally, Hi Fever beat Cal-bred $50,000 Maiden-Claimers June 28 before a modest effort in that turfer vs. Cal-bred Allowance foes July 19. Shes lightly raced and could rebound with the return to dirt. CLOSERS: Fastest in the stretch in recent races at or near this distance have been: Stealth Drone :25.3 Roianna, Hennythelovepenny :25.6 Hi Fever :25.7
We love to see horses that are fast early and fast late. Stealth Drone is tied for the fastest first fraction of 22.1, but also has the fastest last fraction of 25.3. She tops the charting in par time for the level of 1:10.8 and she seems to merit plenty of respect in this event.
