ANALYSIS: Gimme Da Lute should be tough to beat once again. He destroyed Cal-bred Stakes foes sprinting Aug 2 and won a couple of Graded Stakes routes before that. In fact, his only two losses in eight starts were his only two starts outside of California, and that’s something he has in common with Pacific Classic winner Beholder. We’ll make him a solid HF 15 to keep his Sunshine Stake streak intact. His barnmate Fame And Power ran poorly in a mid-level Allowance here July 31, but just missed in a Grade II at Churchill June 13 and won a Stake at Pimlico May16. He could bounce back and allow Baffert to run 1-2 in this heat. Iron Fist ran Ok in a Grade III at Mountaineer Aug 1. He won his last two starts going a mile in So Cal, so he could make another impact. Desert Dynamo faded in a mid-level Allowance July 31, but was 2nd with that kind June 25. He might battle it out with his barnmate Iron Fist for one of the minor awards. CLOSERS: Fastest in the stretch in recent races at or near this distance have been: Fame And Power, Iron Fist :25.3 – Gimme Da Lute :25.9 -Desert Dynamo :26.1

Gimme Da Lute charts with a Lone ‘F’ trip as he is in front in the first three calls. He dead heats for the win with Fame And Power in 1:37.0. Both Fame And Power and Iron Fist have the fastest last fraction of 25.3 and ‘Fist is only 1.5 lengths behind at the imaginary wire. Give all three horses a look at the windows.
