This looks like a competitive event as five of the seven horses are listed as contenders. There is the A-entry of Big Blue Talent and Alysaro. Castellano is named to ride both which suggests one of these two will be scratched. Check the updated scratches and changes on race day.
The Track Profile suggests early speed has an advantage and three of the five listed contenders have early speed. Battlefront is one of the three and he co-tops the charting off his last start when 5th vs. turf sprinters at the 150 RCL. He has yet to race in a dirt sprint, but he shows some recent works over this track and he drops to the 130 RCL today. If he handles the dirt he could be a top threat.
Alysaro is a frontrunner and he was claimed out of his near miss vs. this kind July 15. He plots well and Castellano in the boot seems a big plus. Also, he is the morning line favorite as part of the A-entry and favorites win at a high rate in these type of races at 45.8%.
Chase Lane co-tops the charting off his 3rd at the 145 RCL Aug 14. He might be at a disadvantage at this trip as deep closers havent been productive at the meet at this distance. However, he does make his third start off the layoff which is often a runners best effort and he drops to the 130 RCL today.
Aleander sat in midpack at this 6.5 furlong trip and rallied for the win at the 125 RCL Aug 15. That race has produced two next-out winners and he also makes his third start off the layoff. He also seems to like this track.
Big Blue Talent was up close throughout when he won at the 125 RCL at seven furlongs July 25. His recent speed figures to not match up well with these, but a recent win on the track seems a plus and that race has also produced two next-out winners.
We would not fault you for playing the A-entry of Big Blue Talent and Alysaro as favorites do very well in these type of races. They do have some obstacles to overcome, though, with the Track Profile and with their speed figures. We think those with early speed might have an advantage and Battlefront is down four class levels today per Digest standards. If he handles the dirt (which is a cloud) he might prove best vs. these as the Fractional Charting suggests.
