Anyone else surprised that Songbird isn't among the 23 listed horses? She may be a filly, but she's clearly the best 3yo in the country right now...

    Songbird is listed @ 30/1 in the Wynn future book right now.

    Shitty price, to be sure. Not as bad as the 15/1 being offered on Nyquist though (good grief).

    When did the connections rule Songbird out of Derby consideration? I haven't heard that. Last i heard, they said they were just gonna play it by ear. Which of course makes the most sense.

    from an LA Times article dated Oct. 31:

    The Derby questions will come nonstop now, assuming Songbird stays healthy. And owner Porter did little to discourage that.

    "We're a long ways away from making that decision," he said, "but she's big enough, and showed she is talented enough."

    I'm pretty sure the king said no, but not sure..


    Also, take 20-1 on uncle mo before you take 10-1 on Nyquist.
