    If you're only losing minimal value bet the sire. Gormley 18-1, but Malibu Moon is 14-1. You get 2 or 3 solid hopes...

    I think the field @ 6-1 is a good bank bet.

    I have a lot of interest in Takaful (but i won't take the 40/1, at least not before they run the Remsen), so i'll be keeping an eye on Bernardini.

    Hard not to like the Field in November of any year.

    Btw, I'm totally aghast that Classic Empire went off @ 6/1. How can anyone take 6/1 on a horse to win a race (especially one as hard to win as the Derby) some 6 months before the race???

    Only explanation I can think of is that we tend to have a short memory, and the last 5 Derby winners have all gone off at < 6/1. But yes, totally crazy to take that price in November.
