Wizard's Crystal Ball:

#2 HISSE (Race 3) 3yo filly in the Asmussen barn broke her maiden by winning the Laura Lane Stakes at Louisiana Downs and has been a consistent earner with the top Bayou-bred fillies. She has never missed the board in 8 starts. Last out she finished a fast closing 2nd in the Happy Ticket, narrowly edged by her stablemate Sax Appeal. This will be her first try around two turns and also her 1st on the grass. Her breeding and running style suggest that she will handle the trip well. She is a half to the brilliant Ahead Of Her Time who is a stakes winner on the grass. Stable rider Bridgmohan up.
#6 TIMEAFTERTIMEAFTER (Race 4) Beat a strong key race field two starts back, a race that was faster than par at every call and yielded several next-out winners. He was in too tough against a particularly strong field of $16,000 claimers last out but still looked sharp. He moved to the lead with a 3-wide move on the turn and only weakened in the final 70 yards. The winner of the race came back to run well in allowance company. This class drop makes him clearly the one to beat. The connections of Bret Calhoun and Ramsey Zimmerman are winning at a 36% clip. Can stalk the pace from the outside.

#6 TEIXEIRA (Race 9) Although he could not handle Peteadoris in their previous meeting I like his chances to turn the tables today. That was only Teixeira's 2nd start and he came back to score a powerful win last out. He was rated behind a hot pace then Zimmerman dropped his whip just as he moved out for the drive. Teixeira surged to the lead and won with complete authority under a hand ride. That was on the main track and trainer Calhoun feels that he will be at his best on the grass. The son of Aptitude still has plenty of upside.

5 THE COOT 9/2 Scored a freak out win over soft claimers on Feb 4, a race that was blazing fast at every call. He was jumped in class off the Hebert claim and, won again over a good field of $25,000 claimers. This allowance spot is no tougher and he is once again the speed of the field. R. Albarado stays with him.
3 EMBRASSER 7/2 Beat maidens in his first start of the meet then finished a strong 2nd at this level. He was tried on the grass last time but prefers the main track. He has the strongest closing kick in the field and should get a strong pace to rally into. C. Lanerie in the irons.
2 WARREN'S MARK 3/1 Consistent 4yo has been in-the-money in 9 of his 11 starts including all 3 tries with winners. He earned a good figure with his close 3rd place finish last time although he has been hanging in deep stretch. The blinkers that he has worn for his last 8 starts come off. The switch from Campbell to Leparoux is a plus.

12 LEESVILLE 5/2 Lightly raced 4yo has missed narrowly in both of his tries against maiden claimers. Last out he pressed all the way and was gaining on the winner at the wire. In his previous try he contested the pace for 6F going long against straight maidens. Graham should get a good stalking trip from the outside.
5 AMBER'S PAC 10/1 4yo has given up leads in each of his last 4 starts but carried his speed further last time. After losing the lead he held on quite well to save the show. He is the speed of the field and should be able to clear the field and set a comfortable pace. Goes from Mena to Donnie Meche.
9 RED CAT BAYOU 5/1 6yo doesn't run them alike but one of his good efforts would give him a shot here. Last out he finished mid-pack after trailing the field. Another like his 2nd place finish 3 starts back could get him that elusive win.
8 HALF A MARINI 8/1 Storm And A Half colt is bred to win early and has worked steadily up to his debut. Trainer Sam David shows a large flat bet profit with 1st timers in maiden claimers. Gets Lasix and does not have much to beat.

3rd FG About 1m (Turf) Non-graded 3yo Fillies, Purse: $60,000. 2:29/( 1:29)/12:29/11:29

2 HISSE 9/5 The other girls will have a "hisse" fit when she goes by them. READ THE CRYSTAL BALL!!
5 CLOUDS IN THE SKY 9/2 Found another gear last out and scored a super impressive win over maidens on the grass. She looped the field under a confident ride and drew off to win by 10 lengths. The daughter of Straight Man will be tested for class this afternoon. She has the look of a turf course specialist.
7 E Z TIME 10/1 Finished close in her two starts on the Delta Downs bull ring but looked much better over this mile track. She set a pressured pace before drawing off down the lane. Her win was strengthened when the 2nd place finisher, Suzy Zip, came back to win nicely.

6 TIMEAFTERTIMEAFTER 5/1 Time for another win. READ THE CRYSTAL BALL!!
4 LIL TREE 7/2 Got a tightener against a tough key race field of $12,500 claimers, a race he needed following a two month break. He was claimed by Autrey who gives him another two months off and drops him in class. Scratched from a $5000 claimer last Sunday.
2 TEA TAX 2/1 Returned from a 6-month layoff to finish 3rd against conditioned claimers in early January. He enters off a fast half mile breeze and may be set now following another 2 months off. Barn is always dangerous off the short layoff and Albarado stays with him.

5th FG About 5 1/2f (Turf) Clm $25,000 4yo and up, Purse: $30,000. 3:25/( 2:25)/ 1:25/12:25

2 ROCK CHALK 5/1 Gets a needed freshening from Autrey after racing steadily for 6 months. He was in too tough against the brilliant Euroears last time but still finished a very decent 4th. Training steadily for Autrey and drops in class. Should run big off the short break.
3 PAY NOW 4/1 Comes off a better than looked effort against allowance company in which he pressed the pace while hung 4-wide. That race was won by Euroears and turned out to be a key race field. Gets the time between races he needs and drops back into claiming company.
1 PARKER RUN 9/2 Hated the mud last time, so that effort is a toss. He missed by just a head when stepped up to face $50,000 claimers two starts back. That was a much improved effort and he could go even better on the class drop.
5 GROOVY LUCK 10/1

3 GLORIOUSLY 8/1 Canadian-bred Indian Charlie filly has worked lights out for her debut. Her 5F breeze on Jan 28 was the best of 77 drills that day and she debuts off a booming half mile drill from the gate that was the best of 122 on Feb 24. Mark Casse has positive stats with 1st timers and his stable rider Patrick Husbands will be up. This is a very talented filly.
8 MAIARA 5/1 Contested a fast pace and held well to finish 3rd behind the promising Catera. That was a big improvement and she has been given 3 useful drills since raced. Makes her 3rd lifetime start and could be set for her best.
6 QUIET MOVER 4/1 Given two months off after showing promise in each of her two starts. She was wide all the way in her 3rd place finish last out. The hood goes on this time and that could be just what this filly needs.
2 HALO'S VERSE 8/1 $500,000 Unbridled's Song filly is bred for a route but has shown sharp speed in her drills. She debuts off a strong 5 furlong breeze and will receive Lasix. Tom Proctor is capable with 1st timers and this filly is bred to be any kind.

7th FG About 5 1/2f (Turf) Alw 4yo and up Fillies and Mares , Purse: $41,000. 4:29/( 3:29)/ 2:29/ 1:29

9 SHESA LITTLE FLIRT 7/2 Two starts back she finished 4th in a highly rated race under these conditions. Last out she missed by just over a length when racing above her conditions in a 3rd level allowance. This drop in class makes her a strong play.
11 THUMBIN' A RIDE 6/1 Took a lot of betting action when she finished a close 4th in an "off the turfer" That was her 1st start since June. She will surely be tighter this time and the daughter of Point Given should handle the grass nicely. Leparoux takes the mount.
8 WHITEFISH 9/2 Rated behind a slow pace then used a booming final fraction to win by daylight. The late blooming 5yo is developing nicely for Proctor and is in the best form of her career. Daughter of Diesis has impeccable turf breeding.
2 TRISHA'S SILVER 5/1 4yo just scored a solid win over 1st tier allowance fillies. She showed a fondness for this course and this 2nd level field does not look any tougher. She showed the ability to stalk a fast pace and still finish well.

7 SUCCESS SUCCESS 7/2 Late runner has looked sharp in each of his two tries since graduating to this level with his big win 3 starts back. He was closing fast last time and was gaining on the talented Mr. Nightlinger at the wire. The late runner figures to benefit from the race shape and gets a rider upgrade to Leparoux.
2 ATLANTIC SHORE 8/1 Scored nicely in his first two starts of the meet, clearing his first two allowance conditions. He did not look quite as sharp in his 1st start under these conditions so blinkers will be added. He is the best of the early speed horses and could win it with the right ride.
3 HE'S ROYAL DEE 4/1 Has raced in both sprints and routes but looks best as a late running sprinter. This will be his 1st start of the year but he is working strongly and runs well when fresh. The late runner figures to get a hot pace to rally into.

9th FG About 1 1/16m (Turf) Non-graded 3yo, Purse: $60,000. 5:30/( 4:30)/ 3:30/ 2:30

6 TEIXEIRA 4/1 Catch him on the way up. READ THE CRYSTAL BALL!!
5 PETEADORIS 5/1 Handled Teixeira in a 1st tier allowance then was thrown to the wolves against Pyro in the Risen Star. The son of Smart Strike is a turf course specialist and could beat Teixeira again. This time he switches to Albarado.
1A SNUG 5/2 In his only try on turf he finished a close 4th in a Retama stakes. He added blinkers for the 1st time and finished a decent 4th against some of these at Delta Downs. Like him much better on the grass. Switches to Bourque.

12 EXCESSIVE DIAMONDS 6/1 After three straight sharp efforts he took a lot of betting action last out and failed to fire. He is eligible to bounce back as these cheap maidens can be inconsistent. One of his good efforts would very likely win it. Worked sharply since raced and switches to Lanerie.
6 BIG CHIEF SMOAKEM 7/2 Closed from the back of the pack to finish 4th, a nice try after being off for a year. That was also just his 2nd lifetime start. Trainer Jim Hodges' runners improve notoriously in the 2nd start off a long layoff. Top contender despite his deep closing style.
5 VALUE YOUR MONEY 8/1 The 5yo has 14 losses on his resume but has looked good in his last two. He comes off a 2nd place finish behind a dominant winner, his 1st start for trainer Harold Delahoussaye. Could finally get over the hump.
3 JET FLY 3/1 4yo has been hanging badly in routes so his connections try him around one turn. He figures to be closing from far back and has a shot. He needs the right ride and should get it from Albarado.
