Santa Anita - Race 4

#9 Brought It (3/1 ml)

This horse ran a gigantic race last time out, seemingly losing all chance when rearing very badly at the start and losing several lengths, leaving her dead-last when she was supposed to have been on the lead. She stuck to her task however and started making an eye-catching run approaching the turn, then went very wide around the turn and lost even more ground. She just kept coming though and it looked like she was actually gonna pull it off, but she missed by just a head at the wire. No doubt she was tons the best that day, and also showed a great deal of determination. It's also worth noting that Brought It has strung together top performances in the past, winning 3 in a row when coming off a similar layoff at Santa Anita about this same time last year. In fact, she won the third of those races on 2 weeks rest, and repeats that same pattern here. She actually comes off a claim for Ruben Cardenas today, but i'm not sure what difference that'll make because she's back on short rest with no workout since last raced. Not much Cardenas could've done with her, but he does move her up in claiming price so everything appears fine in that regard. Brought It gets a favorable outside draw today, and can either go straight to the front or lay off the flank of the leader while racing in the clear. Assuming she breaks okay this time, anything resembling her last race should be good enough.

HRT record:

51 for 178 (29%)

$434.70 mutuels ($8.52 avg)
