Race 2
#4 Miss Fremont (10/1 ml)
Mandella firster gave a very good account of herself while working with the older stakes horse Turnbolt recently. Came back with a sharp drill from the gate, and clearly has some talent. Not the easiest field here, but i'm expecting a good run. Should provide good value at even half her morning line.
Race 6
#1 Overextended (5/2 ml)
Ran a bang-up race last time out vs. the very good Drill Down, in very good time for the poly. I fact, Drill Down's final time was slightly faster than a 3yo allowance race that went a half-hour later. Also of note is that Overextended broke from the 11-hole that day, and was still able to make clear early lead while crossing over to the inside. Gets a much better draw here and should be tough to catch. Also worth noting she had worked head-up with the older stakes filly Super Freaky heading into that last race. Talented maiden here. I reserve the right to cancel this one if she gets bet too hard (a distinct possibility), but as of now she's a play.
Race 7
#6 Crossing The Line (9/2 ml)
I can't heap enough superlatives on this horse. Very possibly the best turf miler in the country. 9/2 ml? May not get quite that price; this horse definitely has his supporters. He'll be an overlay though, that's for certain. Gets the acid test here, but i think he's up to the challenge. Screw the Pacific Classic, THIS is the race i'm looking forward to...
Race 8 (The Pacific Classic)
I don't have a play here (slight lean to Sun Boat), but i wanted to give you guys a heads-up on the 20/1 longshot Hello Sunday. He comes in with a huge workout in tow, and looks set to run a big one. Big, long-striding horse should appreciate the distance and has lots of pace in front of him today. Already has a nice win over the poly, and the horse he beat (Railroad) came back to just miss in a $100k Optional Claimer a few days ago. Breaks from the 13-hole here, but they start from the chute and there's a long run to the first turn. Shouldn't be that big a deal. Clearly has his work cut out for him, but could surprise at a big price.
