Angels -125

Boston pitcher Justin Masterson has not looked good recently, allowing 6 earned runs in each of his last two starts. He also pitched in Anaheim against the Angels earlier this year, lasting only 1 inning while allowing 5 baserunners and 3 earned runs.

Conversely, Angels pitcher Jered Weaver comes in off a complete-game performance vs. Toronto where he allowed only 3 baserunners and 1 earned run, while striking out 8. At home this year, he's gone 29.2 innings with an era of 1.21 and a whip of 0.71. Hard to maintain those numbers, but they're not exactly a fluke either, as during his entire career Weaver has logged over 247 home innings with an era of 3.20 and a whip of 1.16. Now that's solid.

Going a bit further, Weaver was very sharp vs. the Red Sox earlier this year, tossing 6.2 innings while allowing just 6 baserunners, 0 earned runs and striking out 8. And tonight, he catches a bit of a break, facing a watered-down Red Sox lineup that's missing both Pedroia and Youkilis. Nice short number here on a good home team with a pronounced pitching edge, and it doesn't hurt that the Angels are hot right now, winners of 4 in a row. I like their chances tonight.

Good luck on them as well.

Weaver leaves the game after 7 innings with a 3-1 lead, and the bullpen promptly blows it. Good grief.

    Angels lose, 4-3.
