Saratoga - Race 2

#5 Capitalism At Risk (7/2 ml)

2yo firster for Violette worked the fastest quarter at the April Ocala sale (20.2) while using the name Morning Price (must have been changed by the new owners). And speaking of these owners (Klaravich Stables), Violette has had a lot of success with 2yo sales grads for this outfit. More recently, this filly worked heads-up twice in a row with Capital Adequacy, who was reportedly very highly-regarded by Violette, and was bet to 3/2 favoritism in the Snap Happy race on Thursday, but didn't run well after getting squeezed back a bit during the early portion of the race. Obviously would like this one better if Capital Adequacy had run well, but this one definitely looks to have some speed based on the sale breeze and Violette is of course very strong with firsters. He also uses Desormeaux here, and they've won with 4-of-10 starters together. Looks live.

I also want to mention #7 Mambo Fever (12/1 ml). Philly Park invader for Anthony Dutrow worked heads-up with Westover Wildcat back at Philly on July 23, and that one emerged from that drill to score a sharp win on Opening Day (after previously running very well at Philly also). Rider Cohen appears to have been brought in specifically to ride this one, as he's yet to ride @ Saratoga this year, but he's hitting a giant 35% for Dutrow from over a hundred starters. Looks well-meant at a very nice price. Edge to the Violette filly, but i like them both.

HRT record:

60 for 212 (28%)

$516.40 mutuels ($8.61 avg)

Capitalism At Risk led most of the way, but got passed late by the favorite and finished second. Mambo Fever came running late for third.

Capitalism at Risk leapt in the air at the start and was off way slow. Couldn't really see in on the pan shot, but it was clear as day on the head-on replay. Looks like a throwout.
