Race 9: #13 Awesome Gem Gonna take a shot with the big price here. I know that the speed figure guys would be all over me here and say this horse isnt fast enough etc.
Many years ago I played a horse called Volponi in the classic and everyone thought that Volponi didnt have a chance and what did you know he pulled away by 6 when they were coming down the stretch. Awesome Gem fits the similar characteristics as Volponi did going into this race. Both were crossed entered in the classic and a grass race. Heading into the race they both had run turf, dirt, route races, short races, a bunch of different tracks. They both also ran decent in these races but always came up a bit short. I think 30-1 or better is a great price on this hard knocking horse.
