I seriously doubt they will close....if that does happen, East Coast tracks will easily see a 20-30% decrease in handle....as we all know off track monies dwarf what is bet on track...and NYC OTB is the largest in the country by far...
I've been pretty much shocked by all the happenings with NYRA and New York horseracing. Most recently they named an operator to put slots into Aqueduct, then they scrapped it after-the-face because of some political haggling. As far as the OTB's go, it's been mentioned (not just in New York) that simulcasting parlors are losing revenue because a lot of peole are betting over their computrers now.
