Santa Anita - Race 2
#5 Cabo San Lucas* (4/1 ml)
2yo firster owned-and-trained by Rafael DeLeon worked heads-yup from the gate with last week's impressive winner Rockin Heather (21.1)* back on March 22, and prior to that had been working consistently faster than that one. Appears to be the better of the two (or at least equal), and if able to replicate Rockin Heather's performance he should be pretty tough here. Same rider (Amador) that was aboard Rockin Heather, as well.
I should probably mention that #1 Candied Hearts (9/2 ml) worked heads-up twice in a row with yesterday's winner Auntie Maud, then turned in a gate drill that was much quicker than the one Auntie Maud posted on the same day (they didn't appear to work in company). Wouldn't be a shock to see that one run well, although the rail draw isn't ideal in these 2-furlong dashes (nor is the far outside post).
HRT record:
68 for 245 (28%)
$585.20 mutuels ($8.61 avg)
