And horseracingtalk. :)

I have no idea where I should go for information online. I would like to get past performance information, but I am not wagering too much and I don't really want to have to pay for the info. Do I need to? Any other useful information is appreciated. Thanks!

Depends where you're located. If you happen to live in Vegas, you can get Forms cheaply, or even free. If you're going to a racetrack or a convenience store, they're rather expensive. You can also purchase them online, generally thru DRF or BRIS. Different packagaes are available, of course. Just depends what you're looking for.

    Oh, and welcome to HRT!

If you bet through Twinspires, you can get free pp's by making a bet on that particular track. They also have a "finders reward" available

If you are playing online, then you already have an account with one of the services.

Most folks talk to have an acct with Twin Spires, which used to be brisbet/brisnet, or something like that. If you have twin spires, then you can pull up pp's at will, free conditioned upon playing at least one wager on that certain track on that certain day. Otherwise they will charge you a fee depending upon which pp's you select. I know of people who will browse through pp's and not find anything they like but will put in a dime super play , or something minimal just to avoid the fee. Once you obtain degenerate gambler status, like most of us here on HRT, the pp's are free.

Hope this was helpful! Good Luck and welcome aboard.

The site below is a great site for a new handicapper who is only wagering a few dollars a day and doesn't want to spend 20% of their daily bankroll on PP's.

Tuesday, Whobet's Free BRIS Watch data for 7/12/2011 10:49:58 AM, Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Tracks are listed with a few races each day in which that race has free past performances (it is dependent upon the breeding and trainer of each horse in the race to determine availability).

Having free PP's available, a good way to start is to bet minimal (or even mythical money) and follow along to see what is working for you and what isn't. Learn to analyze class, pace, speed, and other major factors in horse racing.

Good luck and if you ever need anything, just ask.

Yeah no shit. Decent cash back as well. And I'm sure you guys get the calls for VIP tickets and travel to all kinds of shit too. Makes me wonder how much they're making off me....

I only have sportsbooks accounts at the moment, but it sounds like I should probably sign up at twinspires.

I'll be going over the info that was recommended here, but just to be honest I don't plan to get serious. I just have days where I would like to bet on a few races from home and watch them online for a little entertainment.

I'll also check in here to see what you guys are saying. Thanks for everything folks!!
