Euroears works 5f in 56 today at The Great Race Place and the next closest to him was Game on Dude at 58 and change. How much speed is signed up this year for the sprint? I have been told by two sources that Giant Ryan seems stiff and looks a little off out of his last race. We might see a 1:07 this year at CH if they hone the strip up real fast in the coming weeks.

Would definitely have some interest in Euroears if The Factor gets re-routed to the Dirt Mile. Not crazy about a potential speed duel though (for either of them).

Everyone on HRT knows by now that I have a bias, but I'm telling you right here right now that this sprint race sets up perfectly for Aikenite. Loves the CD surface and won't be any part of a speed battle up front. Dogwood loses Johnny V. but picks-up Javier Castellano. Not a bad 2nd choice. Aikenite is still one serious racehorse when he wants to be, and he will go off around 10-1 or so. Take Note!

I will be using Aikenite on my ticket, as he cost me the pick 5 on Derby day that ony came back a little over $300k for a $240.00 ticket, still havent gottenover that yet. But I'm not playing him as my win contender and I'm not playing Euroears/The Facotor as well. I have the winner booked and he will be a decent price if all the big guns make it into the gate.

I would never talk anyone off a longshot, but according to Mike Welch, Aikenite did not look good in his work this morning. I think he might be cooked this year. Also, the track at CD on Derby day was very kind to late-runners coming from the outside and that's where Aikenite won from (in one of the most thrilling races imaginable if you had him at 13-1, four horse photo, with six different horses in with a shot in the final sixteenth).

I view him as a Keeneland specialist, though I suppose he might like the cutback to 6f, it seems short for him, but then again if they blaze up front, which they will, perhaps he will shock them late.

I'm interested in Trappe Shot off the dull effort on a strange track on Gold Cup Day. This one is quality and if he bounces back, he's a massive threat. Might be 6 or 8-1.

    .

All made possible by the HALF WIT's premature move on Capt. Candyman Can. One of the more 'memorable' rides of the year.

Aikenite has never been a work horse. In fact, he may be the worst work horse ever. Stubborn type who only runs when he wants to, and in the morning he just plain does not want to work. The cut-back to 6f should not matter as he is geared to get out into the middle of the track coming out of the turn and give it his best shot. 21 and 43 fractions gives him a chance?

Well you will get your 21/43 splits. That is almost a certainty. Plus 6f at CD features an extremely long run-up. I think it's more like 6f plus 40 yards. Maybe that extra bit of ground will get him in the frame if he runs the race of his life.

I'm thinking Trappe Shot is an interesting play if his workouts are positive. But the punters love this horse, so maybe 6-1 is a pipe dream.
