The old thread was getting a little busy and long, time to start over with new month!

here is what I'm playing today, comment when necessary.

1st---ex bx 2/7/8
2nd---#5 So Busted, 4-1, not too often I play a 9 year old, but this son of Tiznow is solid and he simply should lead this every step of the way.

3rd---#7 Saucy Stash, 4/5 at post for Assman. Husker says don't leave the windows, but short price is expected.

5th-- Husker likes #7 for Lynn Whiting, but I really like #8 Indiana, 6-1, for Jeff Bonde, who is really taking to real dirt. Note that ml fav for Hobby loses Hobby go-to-jock Marquez to this Bonde entry. Looks like a 7/8 ex bx to me!

7th--- Real speed battle between 1 & 4. Should duel each other into defeat and set things up for #5 ROCK SONG FIVE, 4-1, as a well timed ride from Channing Hill should pay dividends for hot trainer Grant Forster.

8th---Key 3---4/5/6

9th---#5 Most logical winner today.

    OTTO AT OAKLAWN?????

I was looking at the entries for Friday and I ran across this entry in the 2nd. At first I thought it was a joke, but maybe not?
Otto Thorwarth is listed to ride. He has not had a mount in years and I have no idea how he will make weight, but here he is listed on one for Danny Whited. I still think there will be a jock change announced, but if he rides get some because something is fishy!!!!

Otto grew up in Hot Springs and both his parents worked for the Cella Family. He would occaisonally get a mount on one of Cella's good horses, and usually come up short!!!

Last I heard he was supposed to be getting movie roles with Walt Disney after his performance playing Ronnie Turcott in the movie Secretariat.

Note that on Saturday, the young fillie we liked a few weeks ago and she got dusted is back in the 9th. ZAPPER BELLE . Should be a decent price, and note that several who dusted her in her debut have come back to win impressively. KEY RACE?? One good breeze since debut and she will no doubt show improvement!

Also on Saturday in the 5th, 3yo msw , this will be best bet of the day, short field but a good price is likely because Cella has on of his in here, Cyber Secret, who will take $$$$, and Lucas goes to Calvin Borel in his return aboard Red Jack.
Husker and I will be all over #1 RING IT UP, for Chris Richard and Mattress Mack. Do not let this one get by you!

    Wet Track Likely

    6th Race
    msw 3yo 1 1/16

Take note that many of these early 3yo msw races so far at OP meet have been very good. This one today is no exception and offers a good chance at a huge price win!

    #7 VICTORY COURTS, 10-1
One 6f race last summer at Delaware where he showed little. Trainer Hobby has him working long and often trying to get him ready for Hobby's top clients, Bill & Jane Hardin. Hobby would like nothing better than to escort the Hardins to the winners circle and this one is set on GO!!!!! FYI, The Hardins are some of the most wealthy folks with a group with Hobby. Controlling ownership in a large trucking company named J. B. Hunt. He is hooked tough today and I would recommend a key play in all exotics in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th in the super with the following:

    #1 Master Rick, 7/2
will show speed from the rail and he may be hard to catch if the track comes up wet. Lost a lead in his last to Shadwell Najjaar, who is a big time horse.

    #5 Imperial Truth, 6-1,
just throw this one in in case he stretches out for Von Hemel after slow start in debut and closed well going 6f. Well bred son of Empire Maker.

    #9 Gameday News, 3-1
ran behind Najjaar in last in what may be a better than looks effort for Wayne Lucas and Coach Bill Parcells owned.

    #10 Vindication Now, 6-1
ran 2nd in last behind Lucas top 3yo Chalybeate Springs, where he was wide the whole way and closed very well from out in the middle of the track.

A couple of firsters in here also, but they would really have to surprise to get in ahead of those mentioned above.

Tough luck when the firster jumped up and ran huge, too huge as he was DQ to 2nd, but it still knocked us out of a $3,500 super. Today's card is ok, but the track is going to be off.

I expect the young bug, Alex Canchari, to be put down for a few days as a result of his reckless riding in yesterday's 4th race. It could have been a real disaster, and he got lucky no one went down. Yet, I think we said the same at one time about Raphael Bejarano, so this young kid may be worth watching, he certainly has no fear!

I'm trying to get to the track and posting on I phone so this will be quick.

    3rd---4 horse t bx 4/6/7/8

    4th---4 horse t bx 1/3/7/8

5th---#1 Ring It Up, and back it up with a 1/2 ex bx

    6th---ex bx 3/5/10

    7th---ex bx 5/7/10

8th---Essex Hdc. #2 and use over 1/3 in ex

9th---#5 is Zapper Belle, around 12-1, and she comes out of a key race and catches a much easier field with alot of firsters. wps and ex bx 5/9/10

Gulfstream Park race 4-- turf for 3yo fillies---ex bx 4/7/8 and expect the Certainty to stand-out in here today---connections on site to get picture taken!

Lots of surprises and "Bounces" yesterday! WTF with Tapizar?

Got a few today at Oaklawn and Husker has the low-down on these, but he is probably a little busy to get back to us with all the hoopla going on at Super
    bowl in Indy!!

    Race 2
    #5 Cosmopolitan, 6-1
won impressively at Remington, then caught a buzzsaw named LuLu Wong. Has come back to fire a sizzling work and now cuts back to 6f from a series of mile-plus races and gets jock change to leading rider Terry Thompson. connections of Chris Richard/Mattress James McIngvale. Looks like a winner to me?

    Race 3
    #1 Renewing, 5/2
this one is 0 for 11, but been knoching on the door in last few. Drops in cheap today and is a very likely winner.

    Race 4
2/3/5/11 the #'s 5 and 11 look solid, and everything points to #5 picking up the pieces of a fast pace, but the #2 could lead a long way at a big price if it does not bounce off big effort.

    Race 6
    4---8---11
and the #8 could steal this race at a price.

Slept all day. Hard to go all day for an old man and then go tonight for super bowl and LUCK!

Cosmo was a flop but Rewinding won as expected at even money. 4th race was nowhere what I expected but the bug boy came through in the 6th and paid $28.00 and keyed a $50.00 exacta.

Bug boy will now lose 5 pounds but like I said, he has no fear. OP surface is a speedway right now and due to unusual warm weather is running fast early. Horses better be up front or very good. Last year we didn't see this speed bias until early March, but baby it is here now!

Good Luck on exotics in today's card! Am going to just try to hit a few to wps.

    Race 2
    #4 Simply Gone, 7/2
Jumps up in class, but his last race was fast and he gets the bug Alex Canchari. wps

    Race 4
    #6 Sherri's Thunder, 6-1
Route to sprint for sneaky trainer Kenny Smith, who is having a good meet. Should get aperfect trip in a race with false speed.

    Race 7
    #2 Graysonia, 6-1
Old war horse could wire this field at a good price. 2nd off a well deserved rest and will be a factor from the beginning and that is what you want on this OP surface.

    Race 9
    #2 Star Seacher, 8-1
Backside wise guy tout, and use with the 1--2--11 in exotics.

WHOA HUSKER, I'm down to around 190lbs now. Trying to stay in shape just in case the JETS or TEXANS need a wing-t running back next year! I know I can still out run Tapizar on any given day!!!!! Boy, I'm still sore over that one!

Here's what I have today, and you and I are in agreement on some.
    4th Race-
Calvin's mount, #7 Gabbie Gulch, 9/2, has off track form and could take these all the way. I'm using as a key in super play 7 over 1/2/5/9

    6th Race
    Ex Bx 2---7---11

    8th Race
The ml fav, #8 Explosive Disco, 8/5, is coming off a break but has been firing bullets, yet she has always hit a wall at the 5 1/2 to 6 f marker, and I think she may do so again today.
#1 SPADRA, 7/2, is the one most likely to pick up the pieces late. Key play 1 over 3/8/9

    9th Race
Bug Cancheri on #5 Sunny Stein, 6-1, and may find these easier today, and will like being on the front out of the mud.

Looks like Toby Sheets has his hands full today up at Aqueduct, more ASSMAN runners going than I can ever remember?

My buddy says the best bet today is at SA race 4, #1 D'wildbunch, Key 1 over 2/4/6

It's a locals LV casino (18 locations) that has these Wedn - Sunday. Tracks vary daily, good overlay - if no winners/rolls-over to next day. I've won a few times with the chalks (which means splitting with many winners). Send me your email if we win - "larrykautoguy@hotmail.com" - Thanks for the pix.

We might have to have 2 of us tag team it and each take 25%. Everybody here knows one or two tracks very well.

We just thought the SA race was tough, hard to find that 15-1 winner at Turfway!

    Saturday at Oaklawn,
    Race 5
    f & m 3 up clm $25k 5 1/2 f

    #3 Hatter Nu Nu, 6-1
North Little Rock trainer Scotty McNair spots this Arkie bred into open company after passing on several restricted races worth less purse money. Word is out on this one's work a couple back. She should appreciate the cut-back and gets the services of bug boy Cancheri. Very Live!

    #2 Half Pleasant, 9/2
claimed away from McPeek and Gessler family at CD. Shows up here today in Gessler hometown to rub it in! Class of the field and you have to wonder what the racing handicapper was looking at when he set the ml?

    #5 Conflagration, 8-1,
Cody Autrey, looks as good as any other on paper, you get a price, and I'm not leaving Autrey off any tickets!

2---3---5 Ex Bx and wps #3

I have a call in for info on the feature Martha Washington, LuLu Wong, but she will have to be at her absolute best to knock down the little Okie bred speedster.
  • John GreenhawJohn Greenhaw Senior Member
    edited February 2012
    Race 8
    Martha Washington Stakes
    3 yo fillies 1 mile

Very good stepping stone to Graded Fantasy and Kenucky Oaks. Short field due to undefeated Okie speedster, #3 NOW I KNOW, 4/5 ml. This little speed ball can shoot out to the front and cruise, or lay back and come late, or take a break and go up in concession area for a corned beef sandwich and a cold Budweiser and come back down and kick it in late and still fucking win! This race is about who will run behind her.

#5 LULU WONG, 9/2, is owned by good friends and she is ready to fire. Proven at one mile distance and showed alot of heart in last start. Will give it all she has chasing the Okie down the stretch but does not look like she will catch her on speed favoring strip.

    ALL BUTTON!!!
And hope for a good price, maybe even the 30-1 firster from Lucas who has super works and debuts in stakes race?

    3---5---ALL---ALL

Hard to find any of the Cella horses on paper or on backside talk. As Julio would say " What a Surprise!"

I'm with you on everything today except the 8th Race.
#5 SILVER HUSTLER, was not supposed to walk out of gate in her first, but came on like a freight train at the end of 6 furlongs to get the win. A better break today and she wins for fun! I like with #1 for Assman and the #4, just think the Von Hemel #6 is in for a real class test today and is a throw-out for me. I'm playing #5 SILVER HUSTLER in a big way, 6/5 is likely, and key over the 1 & 4. Word is Forster had her work a few days ago and she was well held and still ran 5th best of all at distance, and has been gate schooled several times since debut. Assman brings the #1 up from FG looking for a easier spot but I don't think he has found it today. We'll see? I could have some more info later, stay tuned.

Looks like Calvin Borel is finding his return to OP a little rough, one mount today on a 30-1 longshot. "What have you done for me lately" seems to apply!

In the 9th Race, Von Hemel has a first time 3yo colt from a small Kentucky operation who is bred like a brick shithouse and Luis Quinonez has let word out that this one is ready to fire. Recent works are pretty good and the price figures to be ok, 9/2 ml. The Tiznow colt who cost $350k and is making his 3rd start at age 5 must be a real disappointment. But, will take money due to connections. I got the feeling I might hit the pick 4 today!

    6th---1---3---5---7
    7th---6---10
    8th---5
    9th---3---7---9

I'm going to watch the first few today and see if there is a track bias. Did you see Chris' Pee H Dee's workout?

Since they worked the track during the cold snap, could be a big bias. If so, I'm playing race 3, # 6 Roma Jean, 5/2 ml, and when I say play, I really mean PLAY!!!

In the 7th race, I'm with you and if this race does not hit a exacta with box 1--4--9, I will go to New Orleans, get liquored up, get past the NOPD guard, and go down on El Padrino!!!

My pick 4 is as follows:

    6th---2/3/7/8
    7th---1/4/9
    8th---1/4
9th---#1 single play, especially if speed is KING?
