I Think the Derby is WIDE OPEN!!
Trinninberg, Union Rags, Bodemeister, all have a chance I'm picking a longshot Like last year with Animal Kingdom!!:sweatdrop:

It's a lot of fun to speculate about how the Derby will shape out, but my unsolicited advice to you is not to bother trying to analyze the race until 48-72 hours before the running, after the post position draw has been set.

So much will happen between now and the first Saturday in May. We haven't even had the Bluegrass or the Arky Derby, or the Lexington Sakes. Horses you think are headed to Louisville will scratch and horses you aren't even thinking about now will suddenly look plausible after they run big in their last prep and train gangbuster in Louisville.

Not to take away your fun, but it's a waste of time to try and handicap the race right now. Then again, I suppose it is a fun time waster if you have nothing better to do.

The race itself is a total crapshoot and will be decided by luck as much as who the best horse is.

Agree completely, except with regard to future wagering, of course.

You are oh so correct!! I am not Hadicapping the Derby this early, but based on the preliminariary races, it seems anybody can win. Look at the winner of the Louisiana Derby, Could you make a case for that winner other than "horse for the course"?

I hope people agree with you. I'm going to violate my own advice by saying Gemoligist is a complete throw-out on Derby Day. Union Rags is best. But let's see how they train in the weeks leading up to the race.

The way I've come to approach the Derby is to have a handful of contenders I like going in to the upcoming weeks of the Derby and then to do my elimintations.

For now, the horses I am monitoring for odds, workouts, injuries, etc:
-I'll Have Another (Still live in future @ 25-1)
-Done Talking (Like him to pick up derby pieces at huge price)
    -Bodemeister
    -Union Rags

A few more may come or go in upcoming weeks, but that is who I currently have my eye on.

lol:yes: the only other horse i ever was said was the best, was the Queen Zenyatta....
but that's in another era , now we in the future and Gemologist is #1, U.R don't have another gear like Gemologist

Gemologist was looking around for a horse van escort in the final eighth on Saturday. He almost got caught by a horse that had one of the most horrdenous trips you will ever see, a horse that Union Rags trounced by 5 lengths last year.

I know, comparisons are silly, but still.

Zenyatta? Dude, please don't mention Gemologist in the same breath as Zenyatta...for goodness sakes!!
