The odds at finish

Is it me or is it the track? Why is it that when a horse goes off at certain odds at post and stays the same throughout the race, but at the finish there are changes in the odds. I though all odds were final after the gates o:huh:pen!!

    The final time to make a wager at the track (and via ADW, OTB, Satelite, etc) is literally a second before they break. The tote computers take a minute to process and adjust odds accordingly. Frustrating? Yes, but quite common. On rare occasions windows were accidentally kept open later than they should have been.
