This is why horse racing fails to meet the interests of mainstream sports fans.
Stars like Frankel, Curlin, Zenyatta, etc are what gives horse racing a glimpse of the spotlight.
I feel poorly grouping Frankel with Curlin and Zenyatta because the latter two were more experimental with their runnings. Curlin traveled everywhere and ran on any given surface. Zenyatta met the boys. Frankel has been running @ a mile on the turf in Europe against the same bunch since he began racing.
With retirement coming earlier and earlier and owners protecting a horse's worth by pigeonholing them in to specific races in specific locations it prevents the states from seeing things.

Do you think SportsCenter would cover a race in England in which Frankel won by 10 against a group of horses nobody in the states has heard of? No.
Now imagine Frankel comes to the states and runs in the Mile or the Turf and completely wrecks the field? Now you have a story worth air time.
