Summer Bird ???

Give me a break !!! This is what people call a deep Derby field ??? Summer Bird has never come in first or second in any race except a Maiden win and this horse is off to the Derby ???

People like this horse because he was gaining on a tired Papa Clem and Old Fashioned on 3 legs ? This race should be a 10 horse race ... the other 10 are just taking up space this is really sad.:yelling:

Funny how you're very supportive of Mr. Hot Stuff, considering he has pretty much the exact same accomplishment, except that he ran third in two races instead of one.

For what its worth, Summer Bird may be able to pick off some horses late and get a small cut of the purse. The original plan of SB was to do the LS Derby and then move forward to the Belmont, looks like the owners got Derby fever.

Pretty bold statement after one race in which he made up alot of ground after very quick opening splits. While I do agree the horse has some talent and may impress us, you may be getting a bit carried away calling him a soon to be top horse at the end of the year.

maybe a little carried away there. More of a comment to draynays one track mind. or we should say one horse mind lol. I would certainly do a futures bet of SB in the classic. I think draynay must be beyers nephew lol. i would certainy take a personal bet that QR doesnt win in the derby and that SB hits the board.

That would be an interesting wager. Maybe structure it like this between you and Draynay.
    Mutuel party holds the money.

If Quality Road wins and SB finishes off the board, Draynay wins.
If Quality Road loses and SB hits the board, Hue wins.
If both Quality Road wins and SB hits the board, money is returned to both parties.

Summer Bird ran pretty damn well in the Arkansas Derby. Wouldn't be a big shock to see him hit the board. He and Mr. Hot Stuff both figure to be rolling late.

Summer Bird is not worth my time or yours. One third place finish against quick fractions does not a horse make ! He closed on Papa Clem and Old Fashioned ... big deal WIn Willy did that...so what !!!

Mr. Hot Stuff did well to close into soft fractions so I am thinking he will look even better facing Derby type fractions... if he hits at 3rd or 4th he will help the Super. Do I expect it ... no but you never know.

The way I figure it anyone who hangs around Quality Road is going to die off when he post a 111 his 135 mile will leave all the pretenders finished and it will be mop up time for Chocolate Candy and Mr. Hot Stuff.

I am placing Quality Road on Top and these horses on the bottom..... Dunkirk, Desert Party, Musket Man, Chocolate Candy, and Mr. Hot Stuff. I need one more but won't know until next week ... I want to see the last works first.

Your hypocrisy is simply out of this world. It is no wonder you were laughed off paceadvantage. This is the EXACT reason that you do not like I Want Revenge. Only he completely blew the break and made up ground on slow fractions.

I Want Revenge does well when he runs after slow fractions. The last 2 races he looked at a 48 and did well. When he was looking at a 47 he lost. You WILL NOT see a 48 in the Kentucky Derby so for me he is a toss.

So what is it that makes Mr. Hot Stuff more capable considering they both have proven well closing into slow fractions, only IWR completely missed the break. Don't say IWR is going to be too close. He should be midpack. He can rate wherever he wants him and IWR has proven this. Not to mention this derby has had multiple speedballs drop out already. If Regal Random opts out of the Derby, the pace may very well be pretty slow. Maybe Papa Clem and QR to the front?

You have to remember QR ran very fast fractions, on one of the most speed favoring days in memory.

What is your problem ? What don't you understand ? Mr. Hot Stuff is a closer he closes from 15 lengths back !!! When has IWR closed from 15 back ????

Geeez... Mr. Hot Stuff is a long shot closer that I am willing to put on my ticket because I like the fact that he has multiple races at 2 turns and has gone 1 1/8th twice and the young colt seems to be figuring it out. Get it ?

I Want Revenge went over to NY after getting spanked in Cali and beat up on some weak NY horses ... good for him. HE IS A TOSS FOR ME. I don't like the connections, I don't like the horse, and I don't like the 19 year old jockey !!! Get it ? :idoit:

Regarding getting laughed off of paceadvantage.com what did I do except predict the winner of the Florida Derby ? Many on the site said Dunkirk was this and Dunkirk was that and I simply pointed out that he was no match for Quality Road. End of story. The administrator laughed about kicking off without so much as a warning that I was doing ANYTHING wrong.

3 years ago I had to listen to how stupid I was for liking Barbaro. 2 years ago I was told Curlin would run right over Street Sense and last year many experts told me Big Brown had no chance. After the races where did all these experts go ? The hid like little cowards. Could I be wrong about Quality Road sure... but I don't think so. This is horse racing sooner or later we are all wrong and most times we are wrong on the next race.

If I am not making sense to you ask questions but try not to get personal. I don' t know you and you don't know me so if I post something that doesn't make sense to you ask me to clarify but try to stay away from name calling it doesn't get us anywhere.

You said, "he completely blew the break and made up ground on slow fractions." Ummmm really no kidding would he have made up ground on fast fractions or been further behind??? The fact is Flyingate he was never more than 7 lengths from the front.... Whoopeee get over it.:idoit:

My Grandfather took me to my first Derby in 1969. My grandfather always said, "Some horses rate best in front." Spend A Buck was a good example of that. That was the second best Derby performance of all time behind Big Brown.:toast:

DC could you imagine MHS and SB in the money be quite a payout no matter who else hit the board.

No... I was a huge Afleet Alex fan and still believe he should have won the Triple Crown. I am not a big fan of NY racing leading up to the Derby.

I would have thought the best derby performance was Secretariat since he holds the track record.

    Top 3 Derby Performances

    1. Big Brown from the impossible 20 post going 4 wide all the way around and beating all other males by 10.

    2. Spend A Buck could have gone faster if he needed to and could have set the track record if he wanted it. Never a doubt and crushed the field.

    3. Secretariat ran each quarter faster and beat average Sham by a little more than a length.

Sham ? Maybe you better check your racing history because Sham was no world beater and broken down after the Triple Crown races. So he didn't win much and wasn't very sound. Tale of Ekati has accomplished more than Sham ever did on the track.

First of all what has Tale of Ekati got to do with anything, Sham was second in the Derby and Preakness behind a great horse in the Belmont Secretariat ran the best race any horse has ever ran something like 46 and change 109 and change that would be enough to discourage any horse trying to keep up going a mile and a half Sham could have hurt his self but Sham was still a hell of a horse.

Secretariat has been beat so I would wait to see what track conditions are before I bet my house on Quality Road.He ran on Concrete last time Churchill might not be like that i've seen claimers come close to track records running on concrete.

I haven't seen any horse run anywhere near as fast as Quality Road. His FOY and FD stand out and no horse has come close to beating his mile time or his 1 1/8th this meet.

Has anyone even thought of this and trust me it will happen this year, after the EB breakdown last year this track will not be concrete like the Stream and probably will be a very fair surface, I cannot see a horse going gate to wire and win the Derby this year. All eyes will be on the Derby this year and all so called groups will be in full force making sure no breakdowns happen from the track conditions.
